More info:
CK is the founder of Ascent and plays a crucial role in driving the growth and strategy of the company. His primary responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of the company and ensuring that corporate and investor relations are optimised.
Ascent Solutions is a Singapore-based IoT company. In less than 10 years it managed to grow wide enough for the partnership with government agencies of Singapore. In 2016 it was mentioned by the Prime Minister of Singapore during his speech on National Day. The company was managed to receive investments from both the state and private companies and funds (including "AFK Sistema"). Ascent Solutions has developed several logistics solutions. Its products can significantly reduce the supply chain in transport hubs.
  • Searching for a niche in the digital era
  • Public-private partnership
  • Business experience in Singapore
  • State support for business and innovation
  • Support for talented citizens
  • Singapore's investment climate
  1. iSpot is a brilliant idea! How did you come up with it? How did you find your "blue ocean", that exact "pain point" of business? How did you see the opportunity for development and then even expanded it to ATLAS, QuikCount, Smart Cities Solution?
  2. The state allowed to use the blockchain in ports. We suppose you contributed directly for that decision to be made. Whom this initiative belongs to? How is a new technology implemented in Singapore?
  3. Even in his 2016 National Rally speech, the Prime Minister of Singapore explained that all market players in all areas need to adapt to the new rules, and to stop clinging to the old ways. How does the format of competition change in the context of digitalization, what new factors appear?
  4. Is Singapore the best country in the world for doing business? Why?
  5. How does the state retain personnel?
  6. You operate in 20 (or so) countries. Obviously, entering new markets in digital environment has become easier. To what extent does Singapore support such development of its companies? Because such help might be considered as a support of rivals who take Singapore's piece of pie.
  7. How was the interaction between the state and business settled at different stages of the company's existence? How much does the state help, which structures are involved (SPRING, IE Singapore, etc.)?
  8. Does government involvement in the company's business depend on company's size? You are now an SME. But let's imagine that in the foreseeable future you will grow to a large TNK. Will this mean that the home country will provide more aid and benefits, or a threat and increased regulation?
  9. You have encouraged large investment flows. How does this process work in Singapore, and how transparent is it? Is it easy for a private company to participate in tenders and win them?
  10. How do you see an ideal state apparatus? Please explain it from the perspective of a businessman and layman who lives in a particular country, but works all over the world.
  11. Entrepreneurs are people with a special mindset. These are people who try new things, are not afraid of changes and mistakes, and do not give up. How do they raise and educate entrepreneurs in Singapore, and how do they encourage this way of thinking?
  12. You have been appointed Chairman of the Singapore Smart Nation IoT Technical Committee. How do you manage to combine your work here and at Ascent Solutions? How did Singapore come to the practice of inviting private independent business representatives to work for the state?
  13. Please tell us about the Smart Nation project. What changes does it suggest?
  14. Which public digital services do you consider as the most successful in Singapore? What areas do need improvement and/or digitalization?
  15. How does digitalization affect your life and work in Singapore? What features (applications, services) do you use in your work and daily life?
  16. Does digital environment offer the same opportunities for different countries and companies? What does it depend on if these players can ride the wave?
  17. Is it possible to use the Singapore's digital transformation experience in Russia? In what areas?
